Intune Onboarding Checklist for Staff

Before your computer is enrolled into Intune (Microsoft Device Management system), please review the following:

1. Check your Windows version

  • Your computer must be running Windows 10/11 Pro or Enterprise (Home edition is not supported).

  • To check: Right-click StartSystem → look under Windows specifications.

2. Save your files

  • At the moment, your computer is using a local profile.

  • This means files saved on Desktop, Documents, Downloads, or anywhere locally on the C: drive will not automatically sync to the cloud.

  • Please move all important files to OneDrive or your team’s SharePoint site to ensure nothing is lost during enrolment.

How to save files to OneDrive:

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click on OneDrive – [Company Name].

  3. Drag and drop files or folders from Desktop, Documents, or Downloads into OneDrive.

  4. Wait for the blue cloud icon in your taskbar to finish syncing (green checkmark means files are safely in the cloud).

3. Applications

  • Make a list of any special apps you use for work.

4. Passwords, Bookmarks and Accounts

  • Ensure you know your Microsoft 365 username and password.

  • If you save logins in a browser password manager without being signed into a browser account (like Chrome or Edge), these will be lost after enrolment.

  • To keep them, sign into your browser with your work account to sync your saved passwords, or note them down securely before enrolment.

  • If you have bookmarks saved in your browser without syncing to a browser account (like Chrome or Edge), these may be lost after enrolment. To keep them, sign into your browser with your work account to sync your bookmarks, or export them before enrolment.

5. During enrolment

  • Save all work before starting, as the computer may restart.

  • You’ll need to re-sign in with your Microsoft 365 account once the process is complete.

6. After enrolment

  • Your device will now follow company security policies (passwords, updates, antivirus).

  • You may be asked to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if not already enabled.

  • IT will be able to provide remote support and push updates directly to your device.
